Glasgow Herald : Dundee 2 Peter Lorimer Select 3: 18-04-1978

Lorimer's men pip Dundee

All thoughts of Dundee's current knife-edge promotion situation were pushed aside at Dens Park last night on the occasion of the visit of Peter Lorimer's Select as part of his Testimonial year. Lorimer, back in his native city, brought with him a star studded side which included no fewer than seven full internationals. A crowd of 7,908 saw a superb match with the only possible missing ingredient being a goal from Lorimer himself. A double from striker Ray Hankin twice pushed the Select XI ahead before first Sinclair, then Pirie equalised, and the match was heading for a well-fought draw until a late winner by ex-Aberdeen player Arthur Graham. However, although it was almost certainly Lorimer's night, the occasion was also one which Billy Bremner will not forget. He was given the biggest ovation of all when substituted during the second half by Johnston following a magnificent performance. Dundee: Donaldson; Caldwell, Schaedler; Shirra, Glennie, MacDonald; McDougall, McKinnon, Pirie, Sinclair, Scott. Lorimer's XI: Allan (Dundee); Paul Madeley, Frank Gray; Billy Bremner (Hull City, Paul Hart, Salmons (Leicester City); Connolly (Birmingham City), Eddie Gray, Ray Hankin, Peter Lorimer, Arthur Graham. Referee R.B. Valentine (Dundee).
